HWiNFO64 CPU Die (Average) Spike?

Just chiming in to say I've experienced this issue on my Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master with a 5950x as well. I noticed that the average was higher than any of the readings, similar to what other users experienced.
I have lapped both my CPU and water block due to thinking that I had bad contact - it actually didn't cross my mind that it could be an issue with how AMD reports their temps/voltages.

Thanks for looking into this, Martin!

I seem to be getting similar readings in HWiNFO64 as well. I run Fan Control V168 to control all of my fans. If I close Fan Control and reset all of HWiNFO's stats then leave it for a few hours everything is fine, but if Fan Control is running then I get similar results to the screenshot. However if I run another monitoring program everything looks fine. There must be some conflict between both Fan Control and HWiNFO?

Indeed, that looks like a conflict between them both.

Did we get any update on this? Is this a bug? Or this on AMD? I am on my 3rd ASUS board and same issue on all boards and the CPU has no visual damage. My PC runs cool other than seeing this spike and it has been higher before like nearly 200c.

Update for me the issue appears to be having Armory Crate installed was causing my CPU DIE temp spikes. Uninstalling Armory Crate I have seen my CPU DIE temps drop and the most I have seen my CPU DIE temp reach is 88C while gaming but my CPU temp is 73c. I know this does not help everyone else who does not own an ASUS motherboard. Just putting this info out there. UNINSTALL ARMORY CRATE and find a different RGB monitoring software like SIGNAL RGB OR OPEN RGB. Also you can control fans using your bios or FAN CONTROL.

Thanks for your feedback. Would be interesting to hear from others with ASUS boards if this solves the problem for them too.

I'm able to get this to reproduce faster through setting negative values in curve optimizer. With no PBO curve offset it happens after 7 or more days of uptime. With -12 it happens in 3-5 days. With -20 it happens in about a day. I haven't experimented with positive CO values yet.

I don't know if others experience this, but memory retrains on reboot after this bug happens as well. If I reboot at any point before I see the spike in hwinfo it's almost instant. If I reboot after seeing the spike I have to sit through 5 minutes of memory training.

Tuf x670E 7800x3d, cpu is slightly overclocked using AMD adrenalin , no Armory crate installed, using OPENRGB, getting very high temps on the CPU Die, well over 100. Not sure how long it last, as I only notice it when I exit a game. Other temps are fine as far I can see.

So without OpenRGB no such extreme values are observed? Looks like a collision with OpenRGB..

I actually have OPENRGB installed and I am not seeing high CPU die temps but I did do a fresh windows install and made sure to have ARMORY CRATE disabled from installing in the BIOS.

Go into your task manager and check if you have any ASUS items running (ASUSCERTSERVICE, ASUS NOTIFICATION and ASUS system control might be running). If you do stop them from running and also go into services and find anything from ASUS stop it from running. You can go into program files x86 and delete the ASUS file.
Also this is another way you have to remove it as well using command prompt. I did all this and it helped me and I did turn off and restart my PC.

That may have solved the problem, still early days but will keep checking on it, if you don't hear from me again then it's all good.

I have ASRock B650M HDV/M.2 (Not asus) and use HWiNFO v7.64-5240 and my undervolted restricted thermally (to 64 degree) Ryzen 7700X still Spikes to (>100 degree) in CPU Die (average) metric.
I am using this monitor to be sure all is fine, but instead I get stressed when I see such dangerous temperatures and do not know why! or are they real?

Also when "HWiNFO v7.64-5240" window disappears, it cannot be seen in Windows to choose (try Ctrl-D and after that second Ctrl-D does not reappear app)!

The temps have stayed under 80 since my last post, today I ran Openrgb for the first time since my last post and now my temp is over 110 on the CPU Die. Going to drop Openrgb again and see what happens in the next few days.

Edit/Update: Left out openrgb for a few days but still getting over 110 CPU Die temps.

7800x3d and Gigabyte B650 gaming x ax here. Noticed my first CPU Die spike november 9th, after I upgraded my bios (Probably F9). Second time was yesterday, roughly three weeks later. No screenshots from either though, but as previous posters has mentioned it looked like the temp and voltages was double the normal. Computer running cool and was playing CS2 both times it happend. Temps around 45-50 degrees as usual, except CPU Die which was 92.

Built my rig about six months ago. Never seen this and I've kept tabs on both CPU and GPU since I built it. Might have missed it of course, but likely a new feature in newer Gigabyte bios in my case.

Was running F6-bios prior and that dropped in mid May 2023. Upgraded to F8 early november and then F9 when it was out of beta (which was november 8/9).

No throttling, no boosts or expo was activated either. Computer runs really cool during CS2 so was hardly under any stress.

Rolled it back to F6 again, because why not.
