Cannot install the HWiNFO Driver - nonencrypted sys folders, core iso disabled, no other monitoring tools

HWiNFO tells me it cannot install the driver after latest beta auto-update. All recommended things do not apply (see topic). Can't get program to launch to enable debug logging. Any ideas?

UPDATE: Deleted HWiNFO service from registry and restarted per instructions from Martin in other threads.

Uninstalled and reinstalled HWiNFO 824.

Was prompted to install beta update and I did it.

Still getting Cannot Install the HWiNFO Driver message.

So does version 8.24 work for you and only v8.25 Beta throws that error?
Try to disable the "Persistent Driver" option in HWiNFO settings - Driver Management
Also, are you maybe using some antivirus that might be blocking HWiNFO?

8.24 works. As soon as it updates to 8.25 Beta it is broken. Persistent Driver was disabled in 8.24 before the update. I just replicated this again.

Do you maybe use MSI Afterburner with the HWiNFO plugin? In such case, MSI AB might prevent HWiNFO from terminating and finalizing the update.
Can you try a manual update - download v8.25 and start manually or overwrite the file.

I do not have MSI Afterburner installed.

I run the Installer version of HWiNFO and not the Portable version. I do not see a download link available for the Installer version of the 8.25 beta.

That's certainly a false positive. Maybe that's the reason why also automatic update fails.
I have tried now to download via Edge and it didn't report any problem.
What exact virus does it report? Can you try to download from alternate site, e.g. SourceForge?

So Windows Defender antivirus is activated on my PC. No third party things though. And even through Sourceforge, it blocks my download and tells me this:

I update to the latest betas all the time and have never experienced any issues like this until now.

That's certainly a false positive. I'm wondering why it flags it only for you, otherwise would already have thousands of reports.
Try to update the Defender database via Windows Update.

No one really thinks there is a trojan in it, but we're not making this up that a fully updated Windows 11 Pro installation that is in good shape (sfc /scannow, dism restore health etc show the OS is fine) is rejecting the latest beta, and now we know it's not just me.

This happens from time to time with Defender. Several other software occasionally becomes flagged.
might want to take down this beta so others like myself with fully updated Windows are not affected. This had me messing with registry and troubleshooting for an entire night to suss out.
