Thermal Right TRCC Hardrive issue.

I have the Thermal Right liquid cpu cooler. The lcd software is packaged with a version of hwinfo. I read a few reviewers complain that it accesses your hdd all the time. I did not believe (user error) until I installed mine.

They were right. Kill the TRCC software, noise is gone. Accessing a drive through windows you will hear it once or twice at initially. With the software running there is a nonstop rythmic thud as if it is starting and stopping the drives every 4 secs or so.

I use regular hwinfo with no issue. Their smaller version is the problem. If I end the hwinfo process, it will briefly stop and restart itself. Is there a way I can keep the trcc software running but disable their hwinfo ? I dont need the values reported, but do want the screen to display. I've tried replacing the exe with a copy of regular hwinfo, no luck.

My version of hwinfo works fine.

This is because some rotating drives spin up/down the motor when just queried for SMART health status. Standard HWiNFO mitigates this by polling the ATA SMART sensor only once for each 100 cycles.
Thermalright is aware of the issue and was provided instructions how to mitigate it. They should release an update soon.
 
Awesome ! Can they put the end user in control to disable it completely ? Even in my hwinfo, I disable and hide most of my values and options on the main settings including drive support. Decrease chance of conflict with other devices.

Okay and thank you Sir !!!! Last question off topic, but been on my mind.

Is it true that newer generation CPU DIE Avg also include the Voltage Regulator temps (that keep constant power) ?
While previous generations the Core temps were primarily used for temp measurements ?

Is that why even though my cores idle down, the measured min temp is still 45 degrees or so. When my older processors would idle down to 30.

No, there's no reason to include VRM temps in CPU Die Avg. The CPU die has other components than CPU cores that aren't powered down.
 
The issue has been resolved. I contacted Thermalright support and received an updated version.


Version 1.5.7 is now also officially available and has fixed the problem.
